It’s important for each of us to find our cave.
What does that mean? Well it is just what it sounds like. Where is that place that you can hunker down for 5 minutes, and hour, or as long as you need to restore and rejuvenate? If you can’t think of a place and a time that you can get to your cave on a daily basis, you are going to be exhausted.
Your brain has to be able to revitalize. You Have to be able to breathe, if even for a second.
My time to revitalize was driving the grocery store. This would be a time for me when I could be in my cave. I have always enjoyed audible books, country music, and certain podcasts. I would put one of these on as I am driving and allow my mind to renew and reflect. I enjoy grocery shopping and cooking. This was a cave time for me. Away from the kids and doing something I really enjoyed. Back in my car on the way home, for 10 to 20 minutes and my book went back on or my favorite country song was cranked on the radio.
I am a huge Martina McBride fan. I say she sings my life. When I was going through a very dark period in my life in 2005, I would get in the car and turn on When God Fear ‘in Women get the Blues and sing it at the top of my lungs. That was my rejuvenation song.
So, going to the cave doesn’t mean that you have to sit in room and mediate for 20 minutes. I highly recommend doing that when you can, but I get it. That isn’t way, I understand how hard it can be to commit to doing this for yourself. But Committing to doing it is the most important. It’s the most important for you and YOU are the most Important.
The way our brain is wired, the pathway you exercise the most will be the strongest. Did you notice I said exercise? That’s right, you’ve got to use it, exercise that motor pattern, build the good habit to create healthy change for self.
Right now stop and think where your cave is? Make sure it is a place that is easy to go to everyday for at least 5 minutes. It can be, your bed, your room, your closet. Ask yourself, what do I enjoy doing the most to rejuvenate myself? You’re the designer of your very own positive habit! Write it down, say it, laugh it, scream it!
Find your Cave, commit to being there every day for you! The shift for our environment starts with you! It starts with each individual household! And that ripple effect builds to the community and all those around you. YOU ARE THE CENTER.
Thank you for joining me on this journey. Thank you for all that we can and will create together!!
